Fanatics Sportsbook Launches in Virginia with Migration of PointsBet Accounts

Virginia is the seventh state where Fanatics Sportsbook has launched its sportsbook app. They are celebrating by offering up to 5% back in FanCash through a promotion called "Rewards Surge." Fanatics bought PointsBet's American sports betting company to increase its market share.

Fanatics Sportsbook Launches in Virginia's Principal Market

The Fanatics Sportsbook will launch in Virginia on November 21, 2023. The Commonwealth is one of the most important states for the emerging sportsbook because it is home to about 8.7 million people, many of whom live in some of the wealthiest counties in the country.

Fans notified Casino.org on Tuesday that the sportsbook app is now accessible on iOS and Android. Virginia was the seventh state to launch the Fanatics Sportsbook platform, following West Virginia, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Ohio, and Tennessee.

According to Fanatics Sportsbook, it is "the most rewarding online sportsbook." This week, in honor of the sportsbook's Virginia debut, ardent wagerers will celebrate with a Rewards Surge, offering them the chance to win up to 5% back in FanCash, the loyalty program. FanCash can be redeemed for qualifying merchandise or bonus bets on Fanatics.com.

Michael Rubin launched Fanatics, an online retailer and manufacturer of licensed sportswear for Formula 1, NASCAR, MLB, NBA, NFL, and NHL, in 2011.

Former PointsBet Users Have a Smooth Transition as Fanatics Sportsbook Opens in Virginia

To continue placing online bets, Virginians who were previously PointsBet customers must download the Fanatics Sportsbook app. Users can access their Fanatics betting accounts by entering their PointsBet login credentials after downloading and installing the app.

The release takes place during Thanksgiving weekend, which is jam-packed with sporting events. Among the turkey day sports feast offerings are a full schedule of college basketball games and three NFL games: the Green Bay Packers versus the Detroit Lions, the Washington Commanders versus the Dallas Cowboys, and the San Francisco 49ers versus the Seattle Seahawks.

One of the six states that permits iGaming with interactive slots and table games is West Virginia, where Fanatics debuted its sportsbook and online casino offerings a week ago. Fanatics Sportsbook has now opened for business in Virginia.

The two biggest businesses in the US legal sports betting market are DraftKings and FanDuel, with respective market shares of about 45% and 32%. Third place goes to BetMGM with roughly 10% and Caesars Sportsbook with 6%. That's the view of London-based SportsPro Media, an analytical firm that specializes in companies involved in sports.

The market share of Fanatics Sportsbook is not as substantial. The company's large customer database for merchandise, many of whom have the potential to become bettors, leads analysts to believe that there is room for growth.

"Never Know What's Next" is a responsible gaming campaign that Fanatics Sportsbook has joined.
Fanatics Sportsbook announced the opening of sports betting in Virginia and announced the start of a new responsible gaming campaign, according to Casino.org. Fanatics, DraftKings, FanDuel, and ESPN Bet unveiled their responsible gaming campaign targeting the NBA, NHL, and NHL during TNT's NBA coverage last night.

The first 30-second commercial, titled "Never Know What's Next," exhorts gamblers to act responsibly.

"They love the game because anything can happen," the narrator says at the beginning of the commercial. It highlights the unpredictability of every play, shot, and swing, emphasizing the risks connected to betting. The message emphasizes that there are no guarantees or easy ways to make quick money, and it ends by advising responsible betting and setting boundaries.
